Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students can define qualitatively and quantitatively resource efficiency with respect to the bio-based economy sector. This is linked to a solid understanding of bioeconomy sensu lato, including knowledge of currently defined international strategies. Students can discuss critical and controversial issues that are linked to bioeconomy, including also aspects of ethics and governance. As the wood-based bioeconomy is a central message of this course, students can name and define best-practice examples that are of potential relevance in the future.
