Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim of the LVA is the basic chemical and technological understanding of the production of important products from renewable resources , with special attention to the production of pulp and the resulting cellulosic products such as paper and fiber.

The reactions of the individual wood components (sugars, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin) in the different process steps (cooking, bleaching, derivatization, further processing) will be discussed in detail, as well as quality parameters and degradation processes, for example related to the product aging.

Biorefinery concepts are discussed.
