•Students who have completed the course are familiar with scientific thinking, understand different basic epistemological theses and have a general view on basic categories and methods of scientific work,
•they master different methods of knowledge acquisition, apply procedures of literature research in a knowledgeable manner, are well versed in citation and literature management and create tables and figures in a professional manner,
•they heed scientific rules of conduct and are able to recognise scientific misconduct and to react to it adequately,
•they are able to describe characteristic scientific career paths as they are familiar with organisational structures in science and academia,
•they understand the importance, rules and constraints of scientific publishing and the basics of bibliometric indicators and are able to interpret them,
•they are able to differentiate between different statement categories and to assess their implications for scientificity,
•they know the quality criteria of scientific work, can practically apply them in the evaluation of scientific work and develop critical thinking,
•they have practical skills in planning and implementing scientific work (publications, seminar, bachelor and master theses),
•in particular, they are able to isolate research themes and questions, read scientific work critically as well as formulate and layout such texts appropriately themselves,
•they are able to design scientific posters and have knowledge and skills in presenting scientific content.
