Content

introduction (multidimensional variates, survey of problems and methods, matrix calculation)

multivariate regression analysis

principle components analysis, factor analysis

cluster analysis

discriminant analysis

Previous knowledge expected

Basic knowledge of statistics. Additionally, basic knowledge of R and RStudio required, e.g., the course First Steps with R which is held as a blocked course at the beginning of each semester. Knowledge of Rcmdr only is not sufficient.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students should be able to realize, to describe and to analyze multivariate random phenomenons. They should get a survey of the wide field of multivariate methods and know about the possibilities to describe, that means to model, the relationships of variates. They should become aware of the increasing amount of information of multivariate data and the improving reliability of statistical statements as a consequence of that.
