The growth series concept

Field Camp II is a MASTER course on the field of FORESTRY. So, theoretical knowledge and practical experience in forest inventory (e.g. handling of the respective instruments), forest soils, forest climatology and forest botany are prerequisites.
Since this course is mandatory for Mountain Forestry students, they have precedence to non-Mountain Foresters in case of limited attendance.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students understand the principles of forest growth and temperature restricted growth on high alpine sites
Students understand ecological processes in high elevations
Students are able to classify and map forest sites
Students are able to plan, conduct, analyse and interpret a forest growth field experiment and relate it results of forest site classification
Students are able to discuss advantages and disadvantages for high elevation afforestations
