Introduction to electrical engineering. Measured values and characteristic quantities in metrology. Current, voltage and power measurement. Computer-aided capture of measurement data. Analogue and digital sensors for, i.e., temperature, humidity, and velocity. Methods of control engineering. Dimensioning and analysis of control loops. Realisation of equipment. Speed and temperature control, controlled systems and the so called dead time effect. Computer-aided feedback control. Sampling control.

In all fields of technology, several sorts of physical quantities must be measured and quite often, they have to be regulated to specific values, i.e. pressure, temperature, flow, speed, power, voltage, current etc., as well. Expressed more generally, the aim of metrology is to capture information on the state of a system, whereas control engineering deals with flows of energy and matter in order to influence the state of a system according to desired specifications. The aim of this lecture is to give an introduction into this field and into basics of electrical engineering.
