This course will give an overview on next-generation sequencing data, focussed on Illumina and Pacific Biosciences technologies. Students will get familiar with data file formats, quality filtering, mapping of reads, de novo genome assembly, variant discovery, data visualization, and others. Analysis strategies will be explored using real data sets.

Linux knowledge for data analysis is required which can be obtained by attending the course “Data analysis skills for AgriGenomics students” or “Essentials for bioinformatics data analysis”.
