Remote sensing satellites are continuously imaging the land and water surface providing an unprecedented amount of information to precisely study the earth system.
Several uses are possible ranging from climate studies to more user-oriented applications in farming, forestry and water resources management, just to mention some.
The objective, spatially and temporally consistent products derived from remote sensors can empower land managers, decision and policy makers in they daily management activities.
Attend the *Remote Sensing and Image Processing* course to discover more about space technologies, tools and methodologies for monitoring our planet.
Some key highlights for 2019 are:
* From satellite to drones: Cost and benefits of the different technologies. What is best fit the purpose? We will explore and work with real data, acquired during the course.
* Big data and large scale processing: What is cloud computing? Discover the power of accessing Gigabytes of geographic data with Google Earth Engine.
* Machine learning (Random Forest and Support Vector Machine): discover and analyse information in remote sensing data
* Empirical vs Physically based modelling of land surface variables: make the best use of data and models.

- learn about theory of remote sensing and image processing techniques;
- learn about existing satellite data sets, how to choose and to obtain them.
- learn how to use professional software for image processing and interpretation;
- implement your own mapping project using remote sensing data for a real case study.
