Content

The seminar offers insights into current research in social ecology. Staff members of the institute, PhD students and international guests present results from current empirical and theoretical research in the fields of social metabolism, land use science, environmental history, sustainability transformation, socio-ecological modeling, and others. Following the presentation, methods, concepts, research results and their relevance for sustainable development are discussed.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After the successful completion of the course the students have gained
• an overview of research frontiers in social ecology
• insights into the application of social-ecological methods and concepts in interdisciplinary sustainability research.
