Content

This research-guided course aims to deepen the understanding for the relevance of rural areas in Austria by explaining their characteristics and challenges related to global trends.

Specifically, the interrelations of sociodemographic change, multilocal lifestyles and rural development are analyzed. In this context, the relevance of volunteering and the attitudes of the various stakeholders related to securing basic supplies.

The Students gain advanced knowledge about challenges and potentials of rural areas. The focus of the lecture is on the interrelation between spatial research in rural areas and evidence-based policy making.
