The choice of the marker. DNA extraction. DNA visualisation. DNA markers: AFLP, nuclear SSRs. DNA amplification. Data analysis using different statistical programmes especially for analysis of origin and hybrids.
Optional: high throughput sequencing (NGS) and its use for study of adaptation and speciation.
The content of the course may vary depending on suggestions and special interests of students.

The primary aim of the lecture and the practical is to gain a practical experience in work with DNA, analysis of the data and their interpretation.
Focus: sample preparation, DNA extraction, polymerase chainreaction (PCR), gel-electrophoresis, capillary electrophoresis
