Basic computer skills

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The objective of this course is to provide basic knowledge in the fields of remote sensing and geoinformation systems (GIS) for various disciplines at BOKU dealing with spatial data. Students will get an overview about the possibilities regarding the acquisition, storage and processing of geodata (with a focus on remotely sensed data). At the end, students will have knowledge about the potentials of geodata and should be able to carry out small projects independently.

The theoretical part of the course covers the basic principles in remote sensing and GIS, and their applications. The project work focuses on a visual interpretation of remotely sensed imagery using a GIS (QGIS or ArcGIS). Students will learn how to apply different remote sensing and GIS methods.
You can find more details like the schedule or information about exams on the course-page in BOKUonline.
