By the end of the training the students will
- understand the basic principles of DNA cloning
- be able to perform basic methods in molecular biology including restriction enzyme digestion, ligation, transformation of bacteria, PCR, plasmid preparation, monitoring of gene expression, purification of genomic DNA, Western Blot hybridisation
- be aware of the theoretical background of the different molecular biology methods
- understand principles of DNA-sequencing technologies
- be able to apply quantitative PCR to determine the gene copy number
- be able to critically interpret experimental data
