Content

Examination of samples (macroscopically, dissecting and light microscopy) for symptoms and signs of common and/or important tree and forest diseases; types of wood decay; wood-destroying and wood-staining fungi.

Previous knowledge expected

The practical courses in “Botany”, “Forest Botany” and the lecture in “Forest Pathology”.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After successful completion of the course, students know the symptoms and signs, the etiology and the causal agents (in particular their biology and taxonomy) of common and/or important tree and forest diseases and are able to identify them. In addition, students are familiar with basic methods and techniques for diagnosing tree diseases.
