Content

System theory and System Engineering fundamentals;

Get to know system behavior within complex systems (game based learning);
Computational thinking as mindset for problem and solving description (decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, design of algorithms);

Get in touch with sensor technology and internet of things (IoT) for sensing environmental and system data with forest engineering related experiments (soil moisture, location, distance, image);

Practical application of sensors within a forest operation related experiment in the field of terrain trafficability;

Get to know data exchange formats and standards developed for forestry and specifically for forest operations.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Understanding of relations in the field of Systems Engineering;
Grasping system behavior in complex systems;
Transferring of problem-solving strategies to specific problems;
Deepening the problem-solving competence on tangible projects;
Understanding computational thinking;
Realizing complex systems and basics in sensor data analysis.
