Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students
- know and understand the most important processes of disease development and the development of plant damage by animal pests of the vine
- have knowledge of the plant's defense mechanisms
- know the biology of the main pests and diseases in national and international wine-growing regions
- know the fundamentals of multiplication and spread of pests population
- can assess and evaluate qualitative and quantitative damage done by pathogens and animal pests
- have specific knowledge to combat pathogens and animal pests in conventional, integrated and organic viticulture
- have specific knowledge about forecasting models in orchards and vineyards
- know guidelines and statutory requirements for integrated pest management
- know integrated production systems in orchards and vineyards and their inventory control with respect to pests and beneficial species occurance
- are able to assess the contexts in the development of resistance phenomena of vine against pests as the basis for specific control measures
- can perform Phytopathological laboratory tests for the diagnosis and characterization of pathogens of vine
