In order to perform successful work in modern life sciences, knowledge is required about how to work with biological databases (e.g. NCBI) and bioinformatics online tools (e.g. Blast). In practical examples students will learn how to use public sequence databases as well as software for sequence analysis and interpretation. Students will get introduced to challenges of working with DNA and protein sequences.

It is recommended to take this course in parallel to „Introduction to Bioinformatics“, or thereafter.

Knowledge of the most important bioinformatics websites, databases, and tools. Experience in how to work with databases and software commonly used for the analysis of DNA and protein sequences.
