* Identifying the objectives * Data acquisition: which geodata are available, data quality * Field work: acquisition of reference data including GPS measurements * Data preprocessing: data enhancement, georeferencing, corrections * Creating a geographic database: digitzing, managing coordinate systems * Analysing data: geoprocessing * Introduction to digital image processing techniques * Automated classification of satellite images * Presentation and visualisation of the results

The course is designed to give an introduction how to generate information from remote sensing data and how to analyse these data in a geographic information system. This part of the course is application-oriented and participants will learn to use the relevant techniques and software tools.
