The „success story” of plants: core topics of botany, against the background of outcomes of evolutionary biology.
Starting off with the structural foundations of life, basic knowledge on cell biology, tissue structures, and structure/functionality of organs is imparted in the bottom-up lecture blocks. Subsequently, reproductive mechanisms and strategies of plant organisms are presented. Finally, basics of ecophysiology – the mutual relationship of plants and their environments – are discussed.
