Additional work will be assigned to further oral practice of those points covered in the textbook. Tasks will be given to small groups and students will be expected to outline and cover particular subjects. Individual or group presentations (depending on the size of the class) will take place during the semester and presentations skills will be covered as part of the class curriculum. The aims of English IV also include: enlarging vocabulary (scientific as well as general), learning to summarise and report, note taking, and working with tables and graphs. English IV aims to prepare students for Fachsprache as well as to familiarise them with IELTS, which is quickly becoming the most widely used English testing service for academic and immigration purposes.
