Content

Natural hazards are the result of natural processes of high complexity within a non-linear-system. The interrelation of all those elements is difficult to trace, therefore simplified concepts are introduced to find explanations for phenomena of natural hazards and to facilitate statements about the furture behaviour of the system.

In the course, you get an overview of the most popular simulation programmes. Also dealing with the uncertainty in the models is conveyed.

Previous knowledge expected

Basic knowledge in the natural hazard processes

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students will learn to apply the various programmes and to assess the results.
