In this seminar, current topics and techniques in molecular cell biology will be presented and discussed. The aim is to discuss a topic in cell biology in depth using an original scientific article and to present and discuss it. Papers should be selected and proposed by the students in coordination with the course leaders.
The main topics will be discussed in the preparatory meeting, and suggestions for literature will be provided afterwards.
Topic 1: Expression hosts for recombinant protein production
Topic 2: Mastering Stress: Leveraging Cellular Survival Strategies for Biotechnology
Topic 3: The post-translational modification ubiquitination: more than just degradation
Topic 4: Role of glycans in health and disease
- Previous knowledge expected
-
Solid basic knowledge in cell biology and molecular biology
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
After completing this seminar, students will have gained insight into current topics in molecular cell biology. They are able to summarize and explain original literature. They will also be able to interpret, evaluate and critically question the experimental approach as well as the results.
