The lecture addresses innovation in its economic and political context and covers the following aspects:
oWhat is innovation, and why is it important?
oInnovation policy
oInnovation in forestry ´ actual and potential
oInnovation and sustainable forest management
oInnovation projects ´ success factors and impediments to overcome
oInnovation projects ´ support tools
The lecture will be based on extensive research results on the topic of innovation and sustainable forest management in Europe. It will provide students with a theoretical foundation related to innovation, present new research results from across Europe and use empirical cases to study the application of theoretical concepts.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students shall get an understanding of the role of innovation in general and in sustainable forest management in particular as well as an understanding of innovation processes, necessary skills and tools.
