Content

The course is split into three thematic parts (each one lasting 3 lectures) where GIS topics relevant for landscape planning will be addressed:

Part 1: Data integration: working with geodata from different sources, spatial reference systems, GPS mapping, Open Government data
Part 2: Network analysis: Data preparation for networks, applying different analysis methods (Routing, Service Areas, Origin-Destination Matrix, Queries, Geoprocessing)
Part 3: Spatial interpolation (introduction to geostatistical methods)

Previous knowledge expected

GIS experience (GIS basics) - this is a course for experienced users!!!

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The lecture focuses on students with GIS-experience, to learn advanced GIS-methods for solving typical issues in landscape planning, especially:
1) generating a solid, homogeneous workspace (data pool) to build on in real projects
2) overviewing spatial analyses methods such as queries, geoprocessing techniques, and network analyses
3) introduction to geostatistics
