Introduction into the main seed species for revegetation and erosion control. Discussion of seed characteristics to determine seed species. Practical exercises to determine species in seed mixtures. Basics of germinability testing and unaided determination of germinative capacity.

In the first part, students learn to identify the main seed types used in seed mixtures for vegetation engineering and soil bioengineering. The second part involves testing for germinability, to help students decide wether the seed is of a low- or high-grade type.
