- Data models, raster - vector, geometry, attributes, topology
- GIS-software
- Coordinate systems and map projections, georeferencing
- Database management, SQL-query, metadata
- Data analysis: overlay and spatial operators, Map Algebra
- Digital elevation models
- Geodata in Austria
- WebGIS: web services
- Cartography: basics

Project work:
- Building a geodatabase
- Definition of a coordinate system
- Access to web services
- Data acquisition (vector)
- Analysis (Geoprocessing)
- Map layout

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim of this lecture is to give the students an understanding of the theoretical and practical background on which Geographical Informationsystems are built up. Students are able to work on small GIS projects. Software used in the course: ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
