Aquaculture of relevant austrian fishspecies in detail is presented, as well as worldwide relevant fish species are discussed.
Methods of cultivation, feeding and feed compositions, development of fish larvae and young year classes, adult fish, market situations and distribution are presented.Students should be able to catch methods in fish aquaculture at different levels and operation plan development for personal enterprises.

After successful completion of this course, participants are able to:
•Understand principals in aquaculture; trout farming, pond farming, recirculation systems and aquaponics;
•Identify strengths and weaknesses of fish production systems;
•Evaluate critically the ecological and economic opportunities and challenges in organic farming and industrialized productions;
•Discuss the step-wise production of each phase for the whole production cycle; and
•Summarize the state of the art of fish farming and feed techniques for temperate and tropical zones.
