Mr. Scherhaufer is responsible for the lecture and seminar parts of groups 1 and 2, Mr. Buzogány for those of groups 3 and 4.
Core topics:
- Role of knowledge and science in politics and society
- Scientific consensus and controversies
- Organisation and functions of scientific policy advice
- The role of assessments as decision-making aids
- Media coverage and scientific expertise
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the role and function of scientific knowledge in our society. In general, the interaction relationship between science, politics and society will be made understandable and students will be encouraged to recognise their own role as future "experts" and to locate possibilities for shaping their professional practice. Students learn to critically evaluate the results of knowledge and scientific expertise and to bring them into use in the practical application context.
