Since the accession to the EU, Natura 2000 influenced the nature conservation planning in Austria. The requirements of the European Nature Conservation Policy and the new established network of Natura 2000 have great influence on the management of protected areas, risk assessments, funding programs and the legal situation and strategies of other sectors (forestry, regional planning and water management).
After a general overview of the European nature conservation directives, practical applications of NATURA 2000 are prepared (management plans, pre-testing, environmental compatibility tests, counseling, educational projects, and participatory processes).
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
The aim of the course is to acquire the ability to edit concrete practical cases with established Natura 2000 knowledge.
