The lecture Event Management and emergency organizations is combined with the lecture civil protection (Peter Kaiser).
The lecture Event Management and EO provides a deeper insight into the event dealing with disaster situations with a focus on natural disasters. Since 2006, a directive of the Federal Ministry of Internal affairs controls the special organizational structure of the Austrian civil protection authorities and emergency services in the event of a disaster.
The lecture mediates:
• the content of SKKM Directive for leading in Disaster Response (organizational and operational structure, management process, guiding means)
• Creation and content of emergency plans
• use of early warning systems
The highlight of the course is a simulation exercise in which the participants can take on the role of decision-makers, experts and managers of emergency services. Thus, the practical challenges to decision-makers in complex, time-critical operational situations, such as in the course of coping with a disaster floods, will be mediated.
