In order to gain a better understanding of relevant sociological issues and problems, especially in terms of space and landscape planning, we shall focus in this lecture on theories, theoretical approaches and research results along following topics:
•Urban Sociology and planning related Sociology: Developments and Perspectives
•General problems of Sociology (Durkheim, Weber)
•Contemporary Social Research (Lazarsfeld)
•Social Inequality (Critical Theory, Precarity)
•Urban Studies (School of Chicago, Löw, Bourdieu)
•Gender Studies / Men's Studies

To provide students with sociological topics which are of particular relevance for the planning discipline. The participants should have - after completing the course - knowledge and a critical assessment of major sociological approaches and positions on social inequality, urban studies and gender studies.
