- Content
-
Yeast: classical genetics, yeast transformation, vector types, transformation markers, expression signals, 2-hybrid system and derivatives, regulatable promoters, proteasome, prions in yeast.
Genomics: use of genome databases for yeast and sequenced fungi (MIPS, SGD)
In the practical part of the course specific topics from the theoretical part will be applied: yeast media will be prepared and methods such as transformation, genomic DNA isolation, Y2H system, crosses, sporulation, etc. will be performed.
- Previous knowledge expected
-
basic knowledge in geneics and biochemistry
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
The participants should get an overview about methods and techniques for genetic manipulation of yeast, with a focus on the use of the yeast 2-hybrid system.
