Content

1st part: Introduction, types of protection works, basics of statics and solid mechanics
2nd part: Materials (reinforced concrete, steel, timber) and materials behavior
3rd part: basics of assessment according to the EUROCODE concept, other engineer standards
4th part: assessmet methods für simply components like beams, pillars, plates and panels made of reinforced concrete and beams and pillars made of steel und timber
5th part: Actions on protection works
6th part: assessment and design of simply structures like check dams, retaining walls and snow bridges

Previous knowledge expected

basic knowledge of physics, statics and solid mechanics

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The aim of this course is to understand and use the assessment concepts for simple components made of reinforced concrete, steel and timber. Beside this the participant is able to design and assess siply protection worls, like check dams, retaining walls and snow bridges.
