Content

This course concentrates on Feminst agrarian research, women working fields and the implications of agriculture policy on daily working and living conditions of women farmers.
Based on Austrian and international examples we will discuss the role of women in agriculture by using Agro-sociology and Feminst Theories.

Since the last decades the agrarian structures have been highly changed. These challenges can be measured by more mechanisation, specialisation, internationalisation and "Feminisation of agriculture". This often means more responsible for the continuation of the small scale agriculture farms in Austria.

In close cooperation with the womengroup of the farmers organisation "ÖBV-via campesina Austria" we will analyse and discuss the following central questions:
*How have the agricultural changes of the past decades modified the living and working conditions of peasant women?
*Which strategies do women?
*Which strategies do women out to fence these challenges?
