Content

Introduction into Polish phonetics - the pronunciation of Polish letters.
Basic grammar structures.
Topics: presenting oneself, describing people, the first contact, interests and hobbies, food and ordering in a restaurant, everyday life and free time.

In this class the students will learn how to communicate in the most important everydays situations: how to greet somebody, to present oneself and others or to describe one's own life and family; how to talk about work; how to order in a restaurant, etc.

As a student of this class you will acquire basic vocabulary and grammar so that you will be able to manage basic everyday situations and to speak about yourself and others. You will also learn how to pronounce the special Polish letters and "produce" the characteristic "sounds".

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Acquirement of the 4 basic abilities: reading, writing, speaking, understanding of spoken and written simple texts but also of grammar basics.

According to the European Common Reference Levels, Polish I correspond to the A1 level of a "basic user":
“Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce himself/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.”
