Content

An introductory as well as organisational meeting for this lecture-seminar will be held in the beginning of the summer semester.

The seminars will be held in person at a date we set together (provisionally, in the last week of May).

Previous knowledge expected

The following lectures are highly recommended:

BTLW100020 Introduction to Molecular Biology (in Eng.)
NWNR300881 Protein chemistry and protein engineering (in Eng.)
BTLW300999 Protein engineering (in Eng.)
BTLW302115 Cell and molecular biology I (in Eng.)
BTLW300976 Biological Therapeutics (in Eng.)
BTLW301000 Antibody Engineering (in Eng.)

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Successful participants will be able to:
-give an overview of the current situation in the antibody engineering field, including current most successful antibody-based therapies and future trends
-comment on the various classes of targets of therapeutic antibodies in the last decades
-compare the mode of activity of various therapeutic antibodies
-defend the importance of armoured antibodies (ADCs, CARs)
-outline the differentiation of bispecific antibodies and Fc fusions
- communicate their views to peers (colleagues) in a constructive discussion
- cooperate with colleagues in delivery and evaluation of individual presentations
