Content

The lecture explains natural hazards in the Alpine region. It serves as an introduction to methods for process identification, system delimitation and analysis of relevant geological, hydrological and snow hazards. Finally, strategies and legal frameworks for natural hazard management are presented.

The field trip takes place annually in Austria and provides current examples of the problems and solutions discussed in the lecture.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Knowledge about interdisciplinary aspects of natural hazards and torrent processes and discussion of protection measures.
