The exercises consist of 2 units:
QS in the laboratory: This unit is carried out in teams of two or individually and consists of the following steps: laboratory preparation, theory inputs – BOKUlearn test – laboratory exercise (1 laboratory day) – statistical evaluation, interpretation – report writing. The content covers various quality assurance tasks in the laboratory, such as testing the suitability of a method for a specific application, whereby corresponding key figures are calculated based on a calibration, checked for systematic distortions using a recovery function, and the measurement uncertainty is determined.
QM systems: This unit is usually carried out in groups of three and consists of the following steps: preliminary discussion – elaboration – report writing – presentation. It covers specific aspects of various quality management systems, such as the design, implementation, testing and improvement of test equipment management systems and documentation systems, the visualisation, testing and evaluation of processes, the planning and execution of audits, etc.
- Previous knowledge expected
-
Prerequisite: Introduction to Chemistry Exercises
Recommended: Fundamentals of Statistics
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to carry out various quality assurance measures in laboratory analyses, such as method validation or method comparisons, and apply aspects of quality management (e.g. the design, implementation, testing and improvement of test equipment management systems and documentation systems, the visualization, testing and evaluation of processes, the planning and implementation of audits, etc.).
Selected techniques for working on different aspects of quality management systems and of quality assurance measures in the laboratory should become familiar.
You can find more details like the schedule or information about exams on the course-page in BOKUonline.
