Synthetic Biology is a descriptive term for a rising field - this lecture focuses on context of history and future perspective. The definitions and most relevant experimental approaches will be presented

We like to initiate a discussion and background which is knowledge - driven for the students to understand and coin the term of synthetic biology. Connections to the present fiel of biotechnology, similarities, origin and future ideas are to be presented and discussed in orde to initiate understanding of the field and catching opportinities in the curricula in joining the research activities present in this field.
