Lab practical in in-situ soil remediation
This course offers practical training in in-situ soil remediation techniques. Students conduct a greenhouse experiment to assess the effectiveness of different amendments in heavy metal–contaminated soil. The practical component includes experimental setup, sampling, analysis, and data evaluation over four scheduled sessions at Campus Tulln. Results are presented and discussed at the end of the course.
- Previous knowledge expected
-
We recommend parallel attandence of course OEKB301870 (Soil Pollution and Remediation) as it covers the theoretical foundations that support the practical work in this course.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- design and conduct a greenhouse experiment to evaluate phytoremediation, chemical in situ fixation, and natural attenuation strategies for heavy metal–contaminated soils
- apply laboratory methods for sampling, analysis, and interpretation of soil and plant parameters
- analyze experimental data and critically assess the effectiveness of the remediation amendments
