Content

The interdisciplinary project is a course in the form of student group work, which is carried out on a problem-oriented basis. Students work independently on a practical problem from the field of ‘environmental and bioresource management’, dividing the work among themselves. The joint treatment of natural, social and economic issues is intended to provide as comprehensive a picture as possible of the problem area.
Starting in mid-October, five lecture units on project management (PM) will be implemented in the course, where students will learn about the most important PM tools. The PM content will be tailored to the topics offered.

The course begins with an introductory session covering the course structure and content, work packages and performance assessment, and the selection of topics. Participation is strongly recommended for all students. The supervisors and project topics will also be presented during the introductory session.
The groups will work independently under the guidance of the supervisors to research the topic (literature research, interviews, data collection, etc.), write a scientific report and create a scientific poster.

In the summer semester 2026, eight topics will be offered, with 10-20 students accepted for each topic (for topics with 20 students, the group will be divided into two groups, each with its own focus).
After selecting a topic in the BOKUlearn course, students will be assigned to the topics.

The course is worth 6 ECTS credits, which corresponds to an individual workload of 150 (!!) hours.
