# prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts, molds)
# microbial growth
# microbial metabolism
# viruses, bacteriophages, prions, and parasites
# OneHealth concept: microbial aspects of global cycles, soil-plant-animal-environment
# Food and feed microbiology

Throughout the lecture, current microbial und microbiological events and corresponding media coverage will be discussed.

Students will be able to identify and describe important characteristics of microorganisms.
Students will be able to list, classify and differentiate microbiological organisms (e.g., bacteria, fungi, viruses) based on their characteristics.
Students will be able to illustrate the role of microorganisms as an essential part of everyday life, food and agriculture by means of examples.
