Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students who have successfully completed the course are able to:
- Describe the background and objectives of qualitative social research
- Design a research project in the field of qualitative social research; formulate a corresponding research question and assess its quality
- Name different approaches and methods of qualitative social research and describe their basic characteristics
- Design guiding questions and narrative prompts for qualitative interviewing and assess their quality
- Create an interview guideline
- Describe ethical aspects of qualitative social research and reflect on their own research in this regard
- Independently plan, organize and conduct qualitative interviews
- Reflect on the role, attitude and behavior of the interviewer in an interview
- Name and explain different types of transcription; create interview transcripts
- Describe different approaches and methods of interview and text evaluation and analysis; apply selected methods
- Name and apply selected software solutions for qualitative analysis
- Document a qualitative research project and present the results in writing
