Content

Students will learn how to work with Linux systems using the command line (bash) for file management and information extraction from data files. In the second part of the course students will work with sequence data (DNA, protein) in different formats, retrieve sequence entries from databases, use online tools for pairwise alignments, and perform various types of database searches using blast and related programs.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Basic skills in working on Linux computing systems. Basic sequence analysis skills using public databases and homology searches.
