This course will give an overview on properties and applications of high-throughput sequencing data, with focus on the Illumina and Pacific Biosciences sequencing platforms and their application in genomics. Topics of the hands-on part will include data file formats, data filtering, read mapping, variant discovery, and comparisons of genomic example regions as well as coding sequences.

Linux skills and basic knowledge of web-based sequence analysis are required which can be obtained by attending LV 790408 “Basic Linux and genomics data analysis skills for PhD students”.
