Content

This course will give an overview on properties and applications of high-throughput sequencing data, with focus on the Illumina and Pacific Biosciences sequencing platforms and their application in genomics. Topics of the hands-on part will include data file formats, data filtering, read mapping, variant discovery, and comparisons of genomic example regions as well as coding sequences.

Previous knowledge expected

Linux skills and basic knowledge of web-based sequence analysis are required which can be obtained by attending LV 790408 “Basic Linux and genomics data analysis skills for PhD students”.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Students will get familiar with "next-generation" sequencing and data analysis strategies.
