This course provides advanced training in Linux skills with a focus on bioinformatics and genomics applications. Students will deepen their understanding of Linux tools and their practical use in managing and analyzing (large-scale) biological data. Topics include advanced techniques for file management, working with large numbers of files, and creating efficient analysis workflows. Students will learn how to monitor and control computational tasks, extract information from tables and other common bioinformatics data formats, and generate custom output. The course will also introduce strategies for optimising analysis steps through parallelisation and automating workflows using shell scripting.
- Previous knowledge expected
-
Completed "Computing skills for biotechnology" or "Basic Linux and genomics data analysis skills for PhD students"
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
Participants will be equipped to efficiently process and analyze genomics data on high-performance Linux computers, addressing the computational challenges of modern bioinformatics research.
