Students will work with sequence data (DNA, protein) in different formats, retrieve sequence entries from databases, use online tools for pairwise alignments, and perform various types of database searches using blast and related programs. In the second part of the course students will learn how to work with Linux systems using the command line (bash) for file management and information extraction from data files.
