Content

Students learn traditional and modern hunting horn music on either Pless and/or Parforce horns. The music is played in B-flat tuning as well as with the parforce horns in B-flat and E-flat tuning. In the course, a varied repertoire is developed and background knowledge on the origin and development of hunting music and the underlying music theory is taught.The course demands and promotes the ability to work as a team in a group and aims to perform at various BOKU events as well as at competitions. Students are taught the ability to participate in hunting horn groups at home and abroad.

Previous knowledge expected

Positive completion of course 911010 or essential basic knowledge of playing the hunting horn, which is assessed by an entrance examination.

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

The students are able to play the most important signals independently in hunting practice and can already intonate somewhat more complex pieces from the literature on a hunting horn.
