Content

Catalytic strategies in aerobic and anaerobic microbial metabolic systems
Classification of organisms based on basic parameters:
- heterotrophic - autotrophic
- organotrophic - lithotrophic - phototrophic
- aerobic - anaerobic
- electron acceptors, energy sources, carbon sources
- fermentations: alcohol, lactic acid
- C1 substrates: CO2, methanol, formate, methane
Special reaction mechanisms of nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus metabolism

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

Graduates will be able to describe the functional mechanisms of microbial metabolic pathways. They will be able to fundamentally determine biochemical metabolic pathways and identify and derive them using diagrams, as well as analyze and contextualize biochemical processes in a professionally sound manner.
