LAWI100138 Designing across scales - Object planning
- Type
- course with continuous assessment
- Semester hours
- 3
- Lecturer (assistant)
- Wück, Roland
- Organisation
- Landscape Architecture
- Offered in
- Sommersemester 2026
- Languages of instruction
- Deutsch
- Content
-
Students work in teams to develop independent design concepts that integrate landscape architectural planning and design at different scales - from regional planning (IRUB) to detailed object design (ILA). They analyse and evaluate the interactions between the scales and develop innovative solutions that take design, functional and sustainable requirements into account.
- Previous knowledge expected
-
- Learning outcomes from
old curriculum:
+ 855.311 Organisational planning project (landscape planning, recreation planning, nature conservation planning, spatial planning, watercourse planning)
+ 852314 Object planning project (landscape architecture, landscape construction)
or
new curriculum
+ Module Landscape Architecture
+ Applied Spatial Planning module
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
-
Knowledge
- Students can name and describe the basic principles of regional planning (IRUB) and detailed object design (ILA).
- They know the relevant scale levels and their significance for landscape architectural planning and design.
Comprehension
- Students explain how design decisions at one scale level (e.g. regional) influence the design at other levels (e.g. object).
- They interpret the interactions between regional planning and detailed object design.
Application
- Students apply methods of regional planning (IRUB) and object design (ILA) to specific design tasks.
- They develop design concepts that take into account the requirements of different scales.
Analysing (Analysis)
- Students analyse the effects of design decisions at different scales and identify potential conflicts or synergies.
- They analyse how regional conditions influence the detailed object design.
Evaluation
- Students evaluate the quality of design concepts in terms of their coherence between regional planning and property design.
- They assess the sustainability and functionality of design decisions at different scales.
Design (Synthesis/Creation)
- Students develop independent, innovative design solutions that integrate the requirements of regional planning (IRUB) and detailed object design (ILA).
- They develop concepts that take into account the interactions between the different scales and realise them creatively.
